Halloween Day Away To Dublin
Halloween Day Away To Dublin
Yesterday Friday October 31st 2025 was Halloween so we visited Dublin Castle where Bram Stoker worked as a civil servant before penning Dracula one of the most infamous horror stories of all time.
And, once again, the sun came out as soon as we exited Connolly Station and hopped on the number 27 bus to take us to the castle.
Halfway round a tour of the location for the new Irish president’s inauguration, I received a phone call from Martin and Anne who we didn’t even realise were missing. They were still at the train station wondering where we were.
Meanwhile a couple of our ladies headed straight to Arnott’s department store for retail therapy while our hosts, Eleanor and Robert arranged to meet us at Flannagan’s for lunch.
By this time Bernie from Galway had joined us so Elite Friendship Club can now proudly boast that we have members in Belfast, Londonderry, Armagh, Portadown, Dublin, Longford and Galway!
Not to mention Lanzarote where we are planning to go next March for some essential winter sun.
Over lunch on O’Connell Street, and an aqua vitae on Store Street, we discovered that both Eleanor and Bernie were previously county council administrators, marathon runners and soccer players back in the day before the Lionesses made ladies football remotely popular.
On our journey the train stopped at Drogheda, Dundalk, Newry and Portadown where a group of marginally clad young ladies embarked prompting one passenger to remark that instead of dressing up for Halloween, they hadn’t got dressed at all.
By the time we reached Grand Central Station we were greeted by a dazzling display of light and sound which was a spectacular finale to another day away with friends.
