Day to Howth 2026

 Day trip to Howth 2026

Sunshine, Sea and Street Food:

A Perfect Day Out to Howth. So, early Friday morning, our lively group with excellent conversational stamina and a shared fondness for trains decided to escape the ordinary with a day trip to Howth on Dublin Bay.

Our adventure started inauspiciously as the Enterprise reservation system had broken down leaving us with a free for all quest for suitable seats on the train. By the time we switched to the DART, we were already in holiday mode fixated by the unfolding scenery as the coastline appeared like a postcard that couldn’t believe its luck.

Howth greeted us with sunshine that felt almost suspiciously generous. The harbour sparkled, seagulls posed as if for brochures and the group unanimously agreed that fresh sea air deserved to be inhaled deeply and often.

Hunger soon led us to a lovely fish spot serving street food classics, eaten from paper trays because that somehow makes everything taste better. Fish and chips and scampi were demolished, cool drinks raised in celebratory sips, and everything was right in our world.

With nowhere in particular to be and plenty to say, we set off on a gentle stroll that lasted far longer than originally planned. Conversation bounced effortlessly from daily grumbles to global headlines, personal anecdotes to bold theories about why the weather refuses to accept long term commitments.

Laughter came easily, powered by sunshine, salt air, and the shared joy of not having to check the time.

As the afternoon drifted by, it became clear that the real highlight wasn’t the scenery impressive though it was or even the food. It was the easy rhythm of good company, the kind where everything from serious topics to complete nonsense feels equally welcome.

Heading home, slightly sun kissed and happily tired, we all agreed on one thing: Howth had delivered the perfect reminder that the best days out are mostly just walking, talking, and laughing with good people
